How to create a chatbot with SiteSpeak AI
SiteSpeak AI is a service that requires registration. To configure and integrate your chatbot, follow these steps:
- Go to https://sitespeak.ai/ and click the Start for free button to create a new account.
- Follow the registration process and enter all required information. Once you confirm your email, you’ll be ready to get started.
- Now that you're logged in, you can begin configuring your chatbot. Just follow the 5-step process to provide all necessary information.
- Using the dashboard provided by SiteSpeak AI, you can refine your chatbot at any time: for example, you can add new sources (websites, sitemaps, links, PDF files, CSV, text or audio files, etc.), customize its appearance, or define specific instructions for particular questions.
- When your chatbot is ready, go to the Install Chatbot section. There you’ll find a Javascript code snippet: click on Copy Code to copy the code you’ll need to embed the chatbot into your website pages.
How to insert the chatbot into your site
In WebSite X5, you can integrate the chatbot created with SiteSpeak AI using the SiteSpeak AI Optional Object. You can insert it:
- on a specific page: in this case, site visitors will only see the chatbot on that selected page (e.g. the Home Page).
- in the template’s Header or Footer: this way, the chatbot will appear on all pages of the site.
Here’s how to proceed:
- If you want the chatbot on a specific page, go to Step 3 - Map, double-click on the page to open it, then insert the SiteSpeak AI Object into a cell of the layout grid.
- If instead you want the chatbot to appear on every page, go to Step 2 - Template Content, position yourself in the Header or Footer section, and insert the SiteSpeak AI Object there.
#tip – It doesn’t matter which cell in the layout grid or which part of the Header/Footer you use: the chatbot will always appear as an overlay on the page.
- In any case, after inserting it, double-click the SiteSpeak AI Object to open the settings window and paste (CTRL+V) the code you obtained into the designated field.
- Save and click on Preview to check that the chatbot works and is visible on your site.
Alternatively, you can integrate the SiteSpeak AI code without using the Optional Object:
- by pasting the code into Page Properties > Expert: this enables the chatbot on a specific page.
- by pasting the code into Website Settings > Statistics and Code > Code: this enables the chatbot on all pages of the site.
#tip – In these cases, paste the code into the head section.
How to update the chatbot
If, for example, you want to add new sources or change the appearance or behavior of the chatbot you’ve created, you’re free to update it at any time. Just log into your SiteSpeak AI account and make any changes you need.
There’s nothing to change in WebSite X5. The chatbot displayed on your site is always up to date with your latest settings.
