WebSite X5 provides a gallery of over 100 default templates. You can add even more by downloading them for free or by purchasing them (see: Where can I find more WebSite X5 templates?).
Each template is in fact a mini-site: it defines the general graphic layout and includes a certain number of pages. You are free to change any configuration of the chosen template, as well as to add or remove pages and to insert all of your contents.
Creating a new website starting from a chosen preset template is very simple. Here’s what you need to do:
- Open WebSite X5 and click the New Project button.
- You’ll be asked how you want to proceed: you can choose to start from a preset template, set up your new website with the help of the AI of MagicSite, or do everything yourself by starting from a blank template. Click the button to start from a preset template.
- Access the gallery of preset templates: use the available categories to narrow your search and display only those that may be useful for your project. If you already know the name of the template you want to use, you can type it directly into the search field to find it faster.
- Scroll through the template previews to identify the one that best fits your website’s topic.
- Hover your mouse over a template you’re interested in and click the Preview button to open it in your local browser.
- If it’s a paid template, click the Marketplace button to open its product page on the Marketplace for more details and to make the purchase if desired.
- The preview is very useful: it allows you to navigate through the template, see which graphic settings it uses, understand how it’s structured, and evaluate how it looks at different screen resolutions.
- Once you’ve identified the template you want to use, hover your mouse over it and click the Start button.
- If necessary, proceed with the purchase and/or installation. The template will be downloaded and used to create a new project.
