Many website statistics tools are available on the Internet, and one of the most popular is Google Analytics™. This tool provides numerous reports for monitoring and in-depth analyzing visits to your website. Google Analytics™ can be used for simple analysis such as counting the number of visits, through to more complex work such as judging the efficiency of your advertising campaigns running on the Google Adsense™ program.
Currently, with WebSite X5 you can integrate both Google Universal Analytics and Google Analytics 4.
Google Universal Analytics or Google Analytics 4
The first version of the Google tracking system was released in 2005 under the name of Urchin.js. Back in 2010 a second version was released, which was called async. Universal Analytics is the third release of the monitoring software, and it is essentially the most used to these days. Finally, the new platform Google Analytics 4, which is deeply different than its previous versions.
Google Analytics 4 is more similar to an App, and it has new monitoring approach: if Universal Analytics collected users' data based on their profile, now the monitoring system is based on the users' behavior and interactions
At the moment, Google Analytics 4 doesn't substitute Universal Analytics, so if you are using this version you don't risk loosing your data or having to move them from a platform to the other. On the contrary, if you want to try Google Analytics 4 you have to start from scratch, both as far as data and adding the monitoring code is concerned.

How to integrate Google Analytics
To make use of Google Analytics™, you need to tell the Search Engine which website is to be analyzed, and which pages are to be tracked. For this, you will need to add a special tracking code to the Website Pages.

- Open an account with Google™ if you still don't have one.
- Go to the Google Analytics™ home page and log in.

How to add the tracking code on the website pages
- Open the Step 1 - Website Settings > Statistics and Code > Statistics window of WebSite X5
- Activate the Enable website hit statistics option and choose Google Universal Analytics or Google Analytics 4.
- Paste the code into the field of the Tracking ID option.
- Click Ok to confirm.
#tip - If you are using the Pro edition, you can choose one of the Google Analytics versions, or the WebSite X5 Analytics internal engine. The Google Analytics options are the only ones available in the Evo edition.
