Compatibility:
WebSite X5 Evo and Pro
Version 2024.2 introduces some interesting software updates as well as important changes to the WebSite X5 editions, so to make them even more distinctive and suitable for the different users' needs. Our goal was to focus the Evo on the inexperienced user needs, they can now create a simple and functional website for themselves, their hobby, or business. At the same time, we want Pro to perfectly meet the more specific needs of professional users.
Before proceeding, we have been monitoring how WebSite X5 was being used for a long time, and have realized that:
- there are really few Evo users that add more than 100 pages and/or blog articles in their projects;
- most Evo users DON'T use online shop-related functions.
- the Evo users that do own an online shop usually pretty quickly realize that they need more advanced features, which are available in the Pro edition.
Considering these aspects, we decided to apply some changes to the Evo edition of WebSite X5 by limiting the number of pages/blog posts that can be added but, above all, by removing the online shop functions to concentrate them only in the Pro edition, so to offer a better experience to the users that manage their online shop with the software.
Licenses update
Starting with version 2024.2, the Evo edition will then have a limit to the number of pages/ blog posts that can be added to the project, and it will no longer include the functions for creating an online shop nor, consequently, those for the creation of objects or links associated with it. Let's now see the possible actual consequences for the owners of a software license, and how they should proceed to update it:
Pro License - Any kind of website
Nothing changes for the owners of a WebSite X5 Pro license: they will be able to keep using all the software functions as they always did.
Evo License - Without online shop
If you own a WebSite X5 license prior to v2024.2, but you never used it to create an online shop, nor you plan on creating one, you can simply go on and update the license: you will simply not find some functions which you wouldn't have used anyway. If your project includes more than 100 pages and/or more than 100 blog articles, you will still be able to see them: however, it won't be possible to add more.
Evo License - With online shop
Finally, if you own a WebSite X5 Evo license prior to v2024.2, and you have used it to create one or more online shops, you can choose how to proceed knowing that all your projects will keep working normally - which is the most important thing.
First, you can decide to keep working with the Evo version you already own: it will still be available for you, and it will keep working, but you won't be able to update it.
Alternatively, if your Evo license is active, you can contact us to ask for it to be converted to a Pro for free. Your new Pro license will have the same expiration date and your Evo, and you will be able to open and updated your projects right away.
If your Evo license is no longer active, but you are considering switching to Pro anyway to keep managing your online shops, contact us anyway: we will find the best solution to suit your needs.
Don't forget that, if you have questions or need assistance for upgrading to Pro, our support team is there for you. Get in touch on our Help Center https://helpcenter.websitex5.com or via email at [email protected].
